Chardham Uttarakhand
Chardham of Uttarakhand also known as chota chardham is a pilgrimage circuit which every Hindu wants to do once in their lifetime. Best time to visit Chardham
Chardham Uttarakhand opens for six months i.e. from April or May to Oct or November and remains close for next six months because of heavy snow in the upper Himalayan reason.The shrine opens and close as per date according to Hindu Calendar. Here is the basic itinerary from Haridwar which tells about the route plan and day wise activities.
Day 1- Chardham yatra begins from Haridwar and ends near Yamunotri (Places to stay during night are Janki- Chatti, Rana chatti,Syanachatti,Barkot)
Day 2- After darshan of Goddess Yamuna (Yamunotri Dham)which is about a 6km trek(one side) from Hanumanchatti. Can stay at the same hotel.
Day 3-Head towards Gangotri Dham devoted to Goddess Ganga. On the way we can stay at Uttarkashi or Harsil
Day 4- Visit to Gangotri Dham for darshan and return back to Harsil or Uttarakashi.
Day 5-This day our yatra begins towards Kedarnath Dham. On the way you can stay at Guptkashi,Phata or in Sonprayag.
Day 6- Next day, trek to Kedarnath Dham (18 Km one side) devoted to Lord Shiva and stay at Kedarnath Ji.
Day 7- Trek down to Gaurikund and further travel to Sonprayag and then to Chamoli. Can stay at Gopeshwar, Chamoli or Pipalkoti.
Day 8-Journey towards Badrinath Dham devoted to Lord Vishnu. Stay at Badrinath Dham.
Day 9- Badrinath Ji to Srinagar. Enrouting Joshimath, Chamoli, Karanprayag, Rudraprayag
